Africa Anyone?

Over Christmas break my sister, who works as a geologist in Africa, informed me that she would be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in March followed by a relaxing several days in Zanzibar. It must have been the OMG look on my face of jealousy the prompted her to ask, “Do you want to join us?”. Umm… YEAH! A quick check of all available time off revealed I had enough time to spend 3 weeks in Africa, nearly 2 weeks to climb Mt Kili and relax in Zanzi followed by a week and a half on some solo adventures. And after a lot of planning here is my itinerary:

  • Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (4 days up, 2 days down)
  • Spend 4 days in Zanzibar recovering on the white sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean.
  • Safari for 5 through the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater.
  • Jungle Trek for 3 days in Uganda to see some of the just 700 remaining gorillas in the world.

T-minus 10 days… This should be epic!
